August Card Kit of The Month

Card kit of the Month "August 2008" -- "Simply Said stamp set and Flower Fusion Accents & Elements"

Do you love having cardstock pre-cut for you? Then this is for you!

It's time for a NEW Stampin' Up! Catalog, and a NEW series of Card Kits of the month!! I'm going to be making a slight change to our Card Kit of the Month Program to help you get more accessories into your hands!! I will now be featuring both a Stamp Set of the Month in addition to an Accessory of the Month. This will allow me more flexibility in card kit designs since the amount of product that comes in "bulk" is limited.

This month's card kit items are listed below, and the price of the Card Kit is $15. This kit includes all of the consumable supplies you will need to create 12 cards. Shown below is just 1 example of a card you can make with your kit. Purchase the kit, and receive 3 additional full color samples for "alternative" cards you can make with the contents of your kit! In addition, you'll receive detailed, step by step instructions on how to complete each of the 4 card designs.

Already have the inkpads and stamp set needed to make the cards in this kit? Just buy the Card Kit! Don't have some (or any) of these items? See the "Add-on Products" list to pick out and order what you need to complete the cards. Just want the Card Kit to make your own designs? Go for it!

Orders for the Card Kits must be received by August 15th. You will receive your kits by the end of the month.

Special Offer for August! Purchase the Card Kit and receive the Coordinating Set, "Simply Said" and the Coordinating Accessory, "Flower Fusion Accents & Elements" at 20% off!

Flip Flop Flip Up!

Not sure what these are called but Nikki was going to try and figure out how to make them. Yesterday before we left for some July 4th Celebrations with friends I took time out and WOW! I did it. I took these pictures. I'll be posting a tutorial soon. My daughter is going to help me put it on Power Point and convert it for my blog. It's sad when my 12 year old is showing me but, after all the frustration with the Legal Pad one I welcome any help. Here is a Sneak Peak it's not decorated yet just basic.

Lunch Bag Purse

Had a great day stampin' with Audrey, Nikki and Jackie last Friday. The time went by to fast. Nikki had a Make-an-Take for us, this cute little Lunch Bag Purse, you can find it on Beate's Blog. They are quick and easy to do and make a cute gift.

Frustrated today!!

I worked very hard to get the Tutorial below to look just right...I'm leaving it as is until I can figure out how to do this the easy way. I had the pictures all lined up it looked great on the preview then I post it and it all changes. I think you will be able to follow it just fine, so I'm leaving it up. For my fellow SUDOL stampers It will be posted in a word document for you.

Enjoy and have a safe and HAPPY 4th Weekend.....

Small Legal Pad Holder with Pockets

I have some cleaning to do today but, I just don't feel like it! I know many of you fellow stamper can relate.....I decided to upload what I have been working on. This was shown to us at an SU event hosted by Ann Lightner a few levels above me by a
talented lady named Karen Faber. Here is my tutorial hope you like it!!

Supplies:
12 x 12 Black Cardstock
Designer Series Paper
Small legal pad 5 x 8
Paper cutter with scoring blade or Scor-pal
Sticky Strip
Bone Folder
Crop-A-Dile
Corner Rounder
Embellishments: as desired
Jumbo Eyelets, Ribbon & Chip Board

1. Start with your 12 x 12 piece of Cardstock and score at 3-1/2" from one end.

2. Turn your Cardstock 90 degrees, and score at 1/2" and 5-7/8" from each side. This will give an approximate 1/4" spine. (you are scoring on both left and right sides (4) scores in all {1/2" & 5-7/8" from each end}

(If you prefer a thicker spine, decrease the second score dimension. If you decrease to 5-3/4" this will produce a 1/2" spine.

Be sure to measure the thickness of your legal pad at the top thickest part. Also consider what you may be putting in the pocket.)

Note: when using Scor-pal to score for the 5-7/8" I move my paper to the right 1/4" and score at 6" then I flip the cardstock and do it again. LOVE my Scor-pal...

3. Use your bone folder on all score lines. This is important to give you crisp clean lines.

4. Hold Cardstock so that 3 1/2" scoreline is horizontal and towards the bottom and the other 4 score lines are vertical. Cut on score lines on bottom end of spine see picture. Cut away the section increase the width by 1/8" on each side. This will make sure the total cut out section width be 3-1/2" high by 1/2" wide. (If you have increased the spine size, this will increase to 3/4".)

5. Use round corner punch to round the corner of the piece that will create you pockets. Just looks better. I like to use the retired SU punch I like the larger curve. Either one will do the job.

6. If you are planning to stamp on the over now is the time to do it. I prefer to decorate as you can see in all the samples that I have posted.

7. Using STICKY STRIP apply to the inside of sections A and adhere. Apply STICK STRIP to sections C to the inside front, adhere. NOTE: use bone folder to achieve the crisp folds.

When decorating don't forget to add a piece of Designer Series Paper to the top of the note pad. In this photo I placed a piece of white paper so that you can see step #5 where the corner rounder was used.
These are pictures showing other ways to decorate I used the Jumbo Eyelets and Ribbon and Flower Punch and other accessories.

Hope you enjoy the tutorial and make sure you e-mail me a copy of your creations or at least a link. Thank you for stopping by...

RED, BLACK and VANILLA

Red, Black and Vanilla this was put together with scraps on my table from other projects. I was cleaning up "wink" and the "light bulb" went "OFF" I can put these pieces on one of my Note Pad Books. This is what evolved.

Recipe:

Black cardstock 12 x 12
Real Red cardsock
Cerise Designer Series Papers (retired)
Designer Label Punch
Small Oval
Hodgepodge Pieces from Mini
Coluzzle Cutting System
Scor-pal
SU Font CD

Another Small Note Pad Holder!!

I love this one using the In-Colors of 2007-08; Wild Wasabi Textured 12 x 12 Cardstock and Groovy Guava Prints Designer Series Papers; strips of four different designs placed side by side. A close up of the embellishment: Build a Brad, 5-Petal Flower punched once and then twice. (The how to is on the Tutorial) On Board Simon Lower covered it with Wild Wasabi ink and tied Wild Wasabi and Groovy Guava Double Stitched Ribbon and Jumbo Eyelets.

Small Legal Pad Holder with Pockets

I have been playing around with these Legal Pad Holders this past week; gotten carried away. I should have my tutorial completed tomorrow and I'll post it. Karen Faber gets the credit for this cute Legal Pad idea. Again you will see Retired Designer Series Papers using them up but the Idea is Fresh and New! When I post the tutorial you can link back to me and share what you have done.

I still have not found out what the name of this DSP is but I loved it when I bought it and I still do. I did not take any pictures of the inside you will see them tomorrow. A little close up of the Flower to inspire you. Below you can see this one also matches with the Bag in a Box by Paula Goff.

NEW Big Stampin' Up! News...

All New Stamp Sets Are Die Cut!

YES DIE CUT!

WOW! No more cutting our STAMPS!

July 1, 2008

When it comes to quality stamp sets, Stampin' Up! has been an industry leader for several years.

Our original, exclusive stamps have earned the prestigious Creating Keepsakes Readers' Choice Award for best rubber stamps eight years in a row, and every year we work to make them even better!

All new stamp sets in the Fall-Winter 2008 Idea Book & Catalog (including new hostess sets) will be die cut for your convenience!

We know you enjoy the flexibility of custom mounting your stamps, and with these die-cut sets, all you'll need to do is pop, peel, and place before you begin stamping.

Only our new stamps will be die cut; sets carried over from the last catalog and those on the dormant list will still require trimming.

But, each new set will feature a die cut icon so you will have no problems identifying die-cut sets.
